đź“° DANGER NEWS WIRE: GPS DECLARES WAR!
Date: July 10, 2010 | Location: Somewhere near the Finger Lakes | Status: Trapped in Space-Time Loop
⚠️ FLASH BULLETIN: NAVIGATIONAL EMERGENCY ⚠️
CAMP CAMPBELL — A peaceful weekend excursion devolved into absolute psychological warfare this afternoon when the Danger Girls' global positioning system (GPS) overthrew its human masters, trapping the expedition team in a harrowing, 45-minute "Scenic Route" matrix.
What was supposed to be a straightforward, 12-minute drive to a local winery turned into a looping nightmare of gravel roads, identical barns, and a robotic voice repeatedly demanding that the driver "Perform a legal U-turn when safe."
The Incident Timeline
1402 Hours: The primary navigator (Lynn) programs the destination. The GPS estimates arrival at 1414 hours. Optimism is high. The truck is fueled. Snacks are accessible.
1410 Hours: The GPS suddenly chirps: "Traffic ahead. Rerouting to save 45 seconds." Trusting the machine, the driver takes a sharp right onto an unmarked dirt road. This was our first mistake.
1418 Hours: The road narrows. Pavement is a distant memory. We pass a scary-looking scarecrow.
1425 Hours: The GPS instructs: "In 500 feet, turn left." The driver complies. We are now on a seasonal-use road that looks suspiciously like a dry creek bed.
1432 Hours: The Horror Begins. We pass the exact same scary-looking scarecrow. Lynn notes, "Hey, didn't we see that guy ten minutes ago?" Panic sets in. The GPS arrival time mysteriously jumps from 1414 to 1545.
1440 Hours: The machine enters a loop. “In one quarter mile, turn around. In 100 feet, turn around. Recalculating... Recalculating...” The voice is cold. It knows what it did.
The Hostage Situation
Trapped between a cornfield and a steep ditch, the Danger Girls were forced to make a series of highly stressful 3-point turns in a random farmer's driveway, all while a massive tractor watched idly from a barn.
Every time the truck attempted to head back toward the main highway, the GPS screen would flash violently, trying to pull the team deeper into the rural abyss. It became clear: The GPS didn't want us to get to the winery. The GPS wanted us to live in the corn.
The Escape
In a moment of sheer bravery, Lynn executed a tactical shutdown of the smartphone, cutting off the machine's power supply. Navigating by pure survival instinct—and following a sign that said "Fresh Eggs -> 2 Miles"—the Danger Girls finally broke through the perimeter and reached safety.
The physical injuries were minor (a slight hand cramp from gripping the steering wheel too tight), but the emotional scars will take weeks to heal.
Official Danger Advisory: The GPS has been downgraded to "Untrustworthy." For the next expedition, we are using a gas station paper map from 1998 and pointing out the window at things that look familiar.
