🖤 GEAR POST-MORTEM #041: The Left Flip-Flop
Date: July 6, 2007 | Status: Deceased | Cause of Death: Friendly Fire
It is with a heavy heart and a blistered left big toe that we announce the passing of The Left Blue Old Navy Flip-Flop.
The Mission: Walk exactly 40 feet from the truck tailgate to the edge of the water.
The Incident: Having successfully navigated a treacherous terrain of hot gravel and a rogue rogue piece of broken glass, Left Flip-Flop was executing a standard deceleration maneuver near the riverbank. Without warning, Right Flip-Flop (operated by a companion walking too closely behind) initiated a "heel-clip" maneuver.
The Fatal Wound: The plastic toe thong suffered a catastrophic blowout, pulling completely through the foam sole.
The Aftermath: An emergency field-repair involving a bread twist-tie failed within three steps. Left Flip-Flop was left behind in a gas station trash can. Right Flip-Flop survives as a lonely, single souvenir.
Danger Girl Verdict: You were a $2.50 miracle, and you deserved better than being taken out by a trailing teammate.
